I understand that is just anecdotal evidence, but there are plenty of forums and blog posts and articles to suppor this. I've personally done this 3 times in the last 4 months, twice going from AMD to Intel and it has been fine. You should take good backups ahead of time. If it doesn't go well - then yes, you might have to reinstall. The first time it might take a little longer as it sorts out all the new hardware but it should be ok. Windows 10 is very resilient when it comes to new hardware, and it should boot right up on a completely new system. People like to reinstal Windows when they get all new hardware based on some feelings they have about how the system is performing rather than actual facts and technical acumen. It's old hat thinking, not necessary with Windows 10. I don't know why everyone is telling you to reinstall.
